Common questions

FAQs.

What is a CA-issued net worth certificate?
A net worth certificate is a CA-attested statement of an individual's or entity's total assets less total liabilities at a specific date. It is commonly required for visa applications (especially business / investor visas), bank loan or credit-facility applications, regulatory filings (e.g. SEBI for promoters of listed companies), and business introductions.
How is net worth different from an audit opinion?
A net worth certificate is a limited-assurance attestation, not an audit. The CA verifies the information against supporting documents (bank statements, income-tax records, property valuations, investment statements) but does not perform substantive testing or risk-based procedures as in an audit. The certificate explicitly states that it is not an audit opinion within the meaning of the Standards on Auditing.
Is UDIN required on a net worth certificate?
Yes. ICAI requires UDIN (Unique Document Identification Number) on every CA certificate, including net worth certificates. The UDIN is generated from the ICAI portal at udin.icai.org and must appear on the certificate. Failure to obtain UDIN can attract disciplinary action.
