Common questions

FAQs.

Why does this certificate need the state named explicitly?
Professional Tax is a state subject — each state (where it is levied at all; a few states and union territories don't levy PT) sets its own registration threshold, slab structure, and due dates. A certificate that doesn't name the specific state(s) covered risks being read as blanket confirmation across the whole country, when it can only speak to the jurisdiction(s) actually examined.
Does this certificate cover employees' PT deducted at source as well as the employer's own PT?
The certificate as drafted covers the entity's overall PT compliance position; if the recipient specifically needs confirmation that employee-wise PT deduction and deposit (where the entity acts as an employer/deductor) has been made correctly, state that scope explicitly in the engagement and adjust the certificate's wording to cover both the entity's own registration and its employer withholding obligation.
What if there are default or arrears at the certification date?
State them explicitly in the certificate rather than omitting them — the "default details" field exists precisely so a genuine arrear position is disclosed transparently rather than the certificate being silently issued as if compliance were complete. A recipient relying on a certificate that omits a known default could reasonably treat that as a misrepresentation.
