Monitoring

Turn O2C testing into recurring checks rules

Credit-limit override

Sales order released above approved limit or despite overdue block without documented approval.

Invoice without dispatch proof

Invoice exists without POD, e-way bill, service report, milestone certificate or acceptance evidence.

GST sales variance

Sales register, invoice register, e-invoice data, GSTR-1, GSTR-3B and revenue GL differ beyond tolerance.

Unapplied receipt ageing

Receipt remains unadjusted, on-account or unmatched to invoice beyond threshold.

Unusual credit note

High-value, post-period, repeated or user-concentrated credit note appears outside normal pattern.

Old receivable escalation

Customer balance crosses ageing threshold without owner action, dispute note, provision review or legal escalation.

Authority

Use with current revenue and GST criteria sources

Use ICAI Standards on Internal Audit for scope, evidence, documentation and reporting. Verify Ind AS/AS revenue policy, GST, e-invoice, e-way bill, contract, credit policy and industry-specific requirements for the entity and period before finalising exceptions.

O2C audit FAQs questions

What is O2C internal audit?

O2C internal audit reviews whether customer onboarding, credit approval, order release, pricing, dispatch or service delivery, invoicing, GST reporting, collections, credit notes, receivables and revenue cut-off are authorised, evidenced, reconciled and monitored.

How is O2C different from statutory revenue audit?

O2C internal audit tests process controls while transactions are created and collected. Statutory audit usually tests financial reporting assertions after the fact. O2C work should still support revenue completeness, occurrence, cut-off and receivables valuation.

Which O2C checks are best for continuous monitoring?

High-value O2C monitoring rules include credit-limit overrides, invoices without dispatch proof, GST sales variances, unapplied receipt ageing, unusual credit notes, old receivables, post-period reversals and master-data changes.

Is this checklist accounting or GST advice?

No. It is an internal-audit workpaper starter. Verify entity accounting policy, Ind AS/AS applicability, GST rules, e-invoice/e-way bill applicability, contract terms and industry-specific revenue criteria before final reporting.
