Common questions

FAQs.

What documents does a CA need for a net worth certificate for visa?
Typically: PAN and passport copies, bank statements and fixed-deposit receipts, investment and demat statements, title deeds with a registered valuer's report (or other stated valuation basis) for immovable property, valuation reports or invoices for jewellery, loan statements for all borrowings, and recent income-tax returns. The CA lists each asset with its valuation basis so the consulate can see how the figure was arrived at.
How is property valued in a net worth certificate for visa?
Immovable property is usually included at the value per a registered valuer's report, and the certificate states the basis used (valuer's report, government circle / guideline rate, or purchase cost). Consulates give the most weight to certificates that disclose the valuation basis against each property rather than a single unexplained figure.
Can one certificate cover the whole family's net worth?
Yes, where the visa category permits it, a combined family net worth certificate can list assets held by the applicant, spouse and dependent family members, with ownership indicated against each asset. Jointly held assets should state the holding pattern. Some consulates prefer separate certificates per person, so check the specific checklist of the mission concerned.
Is UDIN mandatory on a net worth certificate for visa?
Yes. UDIN is mandatory on every certificate issued by a practising CA, including net worth certificates for visa purposes. Consulates and visa processing agencies increasingly verify the UDIN on udin.icai.org, so it must be generated before the certificate is issued and quoted on its face.
