CA GPT vs AICA vs ISCA AI Fluency: Which One Should a CA Choose?

CA GPT, AICA and ISCA AI Fluency are not substitutes. CA GPT is a tool platform, AICA is ICAI's certification path, and ISCA AI Fluency is a 30-hour Singapore programme now linked to ICAI through a cooperation letter. How to choose.

CA GPT vs AICA vs ISCA AI Fluency: Which One Should a CA Choose?

CA GPT, AICA and ISCA AI Fluency solve different problems. CA GPT is ICAI's AI tool platform. AICA is ICAI's certification programme. ISCA AI Fluency is Singapore's 30-hour self-paced AI programme, now connected to ICAI through an August 2026 cooperation letter. A practising CA should not treat them as competing versions of the same thing.

Facts checked: 26 August 2026 against ICAI AIS 2026, CA GPT/AICA material, and ISCA's AI Nexus / ICAI cooperation announcement.

The short answer

If you want... Choose
Quick answers on Indian standards, GST, tax or Companies Act CA GPT
A basic ICAI-branded AI credential AICA Level 1
Technical build skills: Python, MCP, local models, deployment AICA Level 2
General AI fluency for managers and professionals ISCA AI Fluency, if access/terms suit you
Firm-level audit AI workflow None of these alone; use workflow software and firm policy

The mistake is thinking "more advanced" automatically means "better for me." AICA Level 2 is more advanced than Level 1, but it may be worse for a manager who simply wants to use AI better in audit work.

What CA GPT is

CA GPT is a platform at ai.icai.org with 150+ task-specific AI tools for CAs. It is useful for:

  • standards lookups,
  • Form 3CD and CARO reference,
  • GST and tax drafting,
  • Companies Act explanations,
  • professional learning,
  • and quick first drafts.

It is not a client-data workflow. You should not upload raw books, payroll data or identifiable client records unless the data-governance position is clear.

What AICA is

AICA stands for Artificial Intelligence for Chartered Accountants. It is ICAI's certification programme.

Level Best use
Level 1 Baseline literacy and credential
Level 2 Build-and-deploy skills for CAs who will actually create tools
Level 3 Launched, but syllabus/fee/dates are not yet published

Level 2 is the misunderstood one. The current Ver 3.0 syllabus includes Python, app deployment, Tally-Claude MCP, local models, n8n and agentic workflows. That is valuable for a designated AI owner, but excessive for a manager who will not build.

What ISCA AI Fluency is

ISCA's AI Fluency Programme is a 30-hour self-paced programme hosted through AI Nexus. ISCA's public pages describe it around structured learning, resources, cases and AI fluency for accountancy professionals.

In August 2026, ICAI and ISCA announced a Letter of Cooperation on a Global AI Fluency Initiative. The important nuance: the cooperation is announced, but the India-member route, fee and exact access terms are not yet fully published by ICAI.

Technical depth Varies by tool Low at Level 1, high at Level 2 Fluency, not developer training
Client-data workflow No No No
CPE / credential value Tool access, not a course Yes, depending on level Depends on member/access route
Status Live Level 1 and 2 live; Level 3 announced Live internationally; ICAI route pending detail

Article / junior CA

Start with CA GPT and AICA Level 1. The goal is vocabulary, prompt discipline and standards lookup. Add the AI Lab for practical prompts.

Manager

Use CA GPT, read ICAI's AI publications, and consider ISCA AI Fluency if the access terms work. Skip AICA Level 2 unless you will actually build automations.

Partner

Do not start with tools. Start with policy:

  • what staff may use,
  • where client data may go,
  • how AI use is documented,
  • who approves tools,
  • and how reviewer sign-off works.

Then choose training. A partner does not need to become the fastest prompt writer in the firm.

Designated AI owner

Take AICA Level 2 or equivalent technical training. This is the person who should understand MCP, local models, APIs, Python, n8n and deployment.

The missing fourth layer

All three options miss the same thing: audit execution.

They can teach, answer or improve fluency. They do not automatically:

  • import Tally data,
  • reconcile GST and TDS,
  • test a ledger population,
  • produce working papers,
  • preserve audit trails,
  • route review points,
  • or prepare a partner dashboard.

That is why a firm's AI stack usually needs four layers:

  1. Learning - AICA, ISCA, ICAI publications.
  2. Research - CA GPT, ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity.
  3. Governance - firm AI policy, DPDP boundary, Code of Ethics review.
  4. Execution - audit workflow software built around client data and working papers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is CA GPT the same as AICA?

No. CA GPT is ICAI's AI tool platform. AICA is ICAI's AI certification programme. One helps you use tools; the other provides structured training and credentials.

Is AICA Level 2 better than ISCA AI Fluency?

It depends on the goal. AICA Level 2 is better for CAs who want technical build skills. ISCA AI Fluency is a better conceptual fit for managers who want structured AI fluency without becoming developers.

Should every CA firm send staff to AICA Level 2?

No. Level 2 should be selective. Send the one or two people who will build internal tools or advise clients technically. For general staff, Level 1 plus internal workflow training is usually better.

Does any of these replace audit software?

No. CA GPT, AICA and ISCA AI Fluency do not replace engagement workflow, source-data processing, review trails or working-paper systems.
