UDIN REGISTER — FIRM CONTROL SHEET

Firm: ___ · FRN: ___ · Period: ___

Purpose: one controlled register of every Unique Document Identification Number generated by the firm’s members — so signatures, certificates and reports reconcile to the UDIN portal, revocations are tracked, and the 60-day generation window is never breached. ICAI mandates UDIN for all certificates, GST & tax audit reports, and all other audit/assurance attest functions.

Common questions

FAQs.

For which documents is UDIN mandatory?
ICAI phased it in for all certificates, then GST and tax audit reports, and then all other audit, assurance and attest functions — today effectively every document a practising CA signs in an attest capacity needs a UDIN. Peer reviewers and regulators verify documents against the portal, which is why a firm-level register matters.
What is the time limit for generating a UDIN?
UDIN should be generated at the time of signing; ICAI permits generation within 60 days of the date of signing. The register records both dates so breaches are visible before a reviewer finds them — verify the current limit on udin.icai.org as ICAI has revised it over time.
