Common questions

FAQs.

When is a delivery challan used?
Rule 55 of the CGST Rules lets goods move on a delivery challan, without an invoice, in cases such as job work, supply on approval and other movements that are not a supply. A taxable supply needs an invoice.
Does a delivery challan replace an e-way bill?
No. Where an e-way bill is required for the movement, it is generated separately. Check the current e-way bill rules for the value and goods involved.
What should be on the challan?
The supplier and consignee details, the goods with HSN, quantity and taxable value, the place of delivery, the vehicle and the reason. The Rule lists the particulars and the number of copies.
