What should a money receipt contain?
The date and receipt number, who paid and who received, the amount in figures and words, what it was for, the mode and reference of payment, and the signature of the person receiving.
Is a receipt the same as an invoice?
No. An invoice asks for payment or records a supply. A receipt acknowledges money received. A registered person still issues a tax invoice for a taxable supply.
Should I keep a copy?
Yes. Keep a copy with your books, because the receipt supports your cash or bank entry.
