Canara Bank's Inspection Wing invited chartered accountant firms to apply online between 25 April and 9 May 2026 for concurrent or continuous audit of identified branches and units for the period July 2026 to June 2027. That window has closed. This page records what the notice says, what we could not confirm, and how a firm can prepare for the next round.
Facts checked: 16 October 2026, against the notice as circulated on ICAI's Eastern India Regional Council (EIRC) website, dated 24 April 2026. The bank's own pages require a browser session and were not readable by our tools. Use the bank's notice as the source of record.

Listing sites describe the round as covering 704 branches and units for 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027, and one of them says firms that have been empanelled for concurrent audit for the last three years are not eligible for re-empanelment. We could only see those two points on secondary pages, so check them in the bank's documents before relying on them.
What we could not confirm
The EIRC notice does not define "eligible" firms. We did not find, in a readable primary document, the firm grade, number of partners or staff, experience, certification or remuneration terms for Canara's round. Do not apply these from another bank's notice: each bank sets its own conditions. For how banks typically structure them, see our notes on Union Bank of India, UCO Bank and Indian Bank, and the general bank stock and concurrent audit empanelment criteria.
Preparing for the next round
The 2026-27 round opened in the last week of April. If Canara follows the same cycle, the notice for July 2027 to June 2028 would appear in April 2027. That is an inference from this year's dates, not an announcement.
What helps a firm before any notice appears:
- Keep the firm's records application-ready. Partner and staff details, years of experience, bank audit assignments, and ICAI certificate courses or DISA/CISA qualifications are the items bank notices usually ask for.
- Know the audit itself. Concurrent audit is a continuing review of transactions at the branch. See what concurrent audit means and the bank audit guide for CA firms.
- Watch the notice channels. Banks post empanelment notices on their own sites and circulate them through ICAI regional councils, as Canara did through EIRC. The application link goes live for about two weeks.
- Plan capacity. Concurrent audit is monthly, branch-based work. A firm that applies without the staff to visit its allotted branches puts its other empanelments at risk.
